Bone Idol have now started work on their long awaited debut album, it is still too early to tell which songs are going to feature on the album, but we suspect that it shall feature most of the classics as well as some new, and as of yet, currently unheard songs. It is also too early to say when the album will be released or what the album will even be called. But we do know that the artwork for the album will be designed by none other than our very own Laurie Bell, we are also in talks with Laurie about the possibility of him producing some of, if not all of the album. Bone Idol plan to have an official launch night at The Double "0" Bar to celebrate the release of their debut album. Check back here soon for more information on upcoming events involving the album as recording is due to start soon.

Roberts Diary From Australia

Hello everybody,

My travels so far; after spending almost 2 months in Cronulla in Sydney doing very little but drinking, going to the beach, lazing around and working the odd shift doing labouring or similar, i decided to make my move north up the east coast.

To begin with keith, steve (irish chef that we met in Cronulla) and 2 canadians; Mckinley and Kavita- freinds of Steve's, hired a 3 berth campervan for a large amount of money and headed to Byron Bay for the Blues and Roots Music festival. On route we spent a night at a campsite in Coffs Harbour as the journey was longer than expected to Byron.

On arrival, the following day, Byron Bay was heaving. All campsites, hostels and other forms of budget accomodation were fully booked. This being down to the festival and the fact that it was the Easter weekend. For that night we headed about 20 km south to a place called Lennox Head where we were lucky to get one of the last remaining spaces at the campsite there.

That night we got a taxi to Byron for the festival where the notorious vanishing key incident happened (Keith!!...only joking) I'll say no more than that for now as Keith might try to kill me when i see him next. Due to our late arrival a saw 2 bands; the 1st being a Canadian band called Pilate, who were very good, and "The Dave Matthews Band" who, despite not knowing very well, were excellent.

After the festival we had a good night out in Byron where i managed to catch a little bit of "ZED LEPPELIN!!!!!" in a hotel (pure cheese!!!) followed by a trip to "Cheeky Monkeys" backpackers pub (even more cheese!!!)

The following day we headed to Surfers Paradise as campsites around Byron were still all full. However, we encountered the same problem there (this being Good Friday). So.........after many attempts to get a campsite, we had to settle for staying in an appartment. This was great, but made our camper a waste of money( a lesson learned then...........book ahead!!)

After a trip to Sea World and the Ripley's Believe it or not Museum and a couple of good nights out in Surfers it was time for the camper, along with Keith and Steve to start making the long journey south back to Sydney.

On route i was dropped back at Byron Bay to begin my solo adventure using my east coast package deal. (Trust me, adventure is the key word. Especially when it came to the Whitsunday Islands!!)

In Byron i spent 3 nights at the Cape Byron Lodge. It was ok as hostels go but was a 15 minute walk from byron bay town centre and beach.

My next port of call was once again the "wonderful" Surfers Paradise (High rise buildings all along the beach front/ theme parks all over the place. Natural Australia at its best) Anyway, a good night out had by all.

After 3 more days of Surfers i headed off to Brisbane. There i decidied to live it up for a couple of days, as it was my birthday, and check in to a luxury hotel right in the centre of brisbane.

I was then sent plumitting back to the real world of hostels by staying at the Prince's Consort backpackers, again in brisbane.

During the 3 nights that i spent there I did some shopping, went to Australia Zoo ( Steve Irwin's place. Didn't see him though!!!!) and met Dave and Adam from Northern Ireland who I'm currently travelling New Zealand with.
From there i trvelled to Hervey Bay to do a 4 by 4 safari on Fraser Island (the worlds largest sand island)

The 3 day/2night trip was a fantastic experience made so by the great people in my group. However, due to insurance purposes i was too young to drive the vehicle (discrimination!! thats what i say)

After spending 1 more night in Hervey Bay after Fraser Island, i caught the night bus up to Airle Beach where i spent 6 nights
waiting to depart on my Whitsunday Islands sailing trip on the boat "JADE".

THE BIG DISASTER!!!!

Day 1; we depart around 4pm and make our way out to Long Island. We spend the evening on the Island and at about 11pm or 12pm (cant quite remeber, nevermind) 16 of the 34 head back to the boat to spend the night on board.

Day 2; went to an area of reef to do some snorkelling. In getting there we crossed very rough stretch of water and i was sea sick for the 1st time ever. Afternoon- went to Whitehaven Beach where we nearly got standed because the tender nearly sank. On voyage back too Long Island we encountered steering difficulties in dangerous passage between 2 Islands and tried to anchor. However, the anchor would not grip the sea bed so we were steadily heading towards rocks. At that point the captain decided to make a mayday call. Within 10 mins or so the fisheries protection people arrived and decided to tow us back to Whitehaven Beach where we informed that we would be picked up later that evening. Again, as with most things on that trip, it was not to be. We were eventually picked up the following morning after having spent the entire night crammed on to the boat with all 39 people onboard!

I then spent 1 more night in Airlie Beach before heading up to Townsville to then catch the ferry to Magnetic Island. I spent one night there where I mainly slept as I needed to recover from the sleep deprovation.

Next stop was Cairns. The highlight of which was the Great Barrier Reef tour where we enjoyed snorkelling with tropical fish and I went on a Heli trip over the reef which was breath taking.

At present I'm in Christchurch in New Zealand, and heading north for a few days and will then be in Christchurch again from the 18th to the 24th of May.

Make Poverty History

Every single day, 30,000 children are dying as a result of extreme poverty.

This year, 2005, we finally have the resources, knowledge and opportunity to end this shameful situation.

In July of this year, 8 world leaders will have it in their power to create the changes, which will make poverty history. But they will only use that power if enough people tell them to.

Check out this website to see what you can do.
